What to expect
Choosing a resolution
Screen renders at 1.5× the page’s own size, which is enough to read on a phone or post somewhere. Print is 2.5×, roughly 150dpi on an A4 page. Maximum is 4×, roughly 300dpi, and the files get large quickly — a 20-page document can run to tens of megabytes. The estimate beside each option is measured from your actual first page, not guessed.
What is lost
An image is a picture of a page, so selectable text, links, form fields and bookmarks do not survive. That is inherent to the format rather than a limitation of this tool. If you need the words, use PDF to Word, which extracts the text itself.
Going the other way
To build a PDF out of pictures instead — scans, photographs, screenshots — JPG to PDF puts them into one document in whatever order you arrange them.
Common questions
Does every page become a separate image?
Yes — one JPG per page, numbered in order. A one-page PDF downloads as a single JPG; anything longer downloads as a zip.
Can I get PNG instead?
Not yet. JPG is the right format for pages of documents and photographs, and produces far smaller files than PNG at the same visual quality. PNG suits flat graphics and screenshots better, and is worth adding for those.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Every page is rendered locally by your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab removes the file from memory.
